Years ago, when our daughters were young (ranging from about eight to sixteen), I used to drag everyone out for walks a couple of days a week. One of the girls took to calling it “mandatory family fun time” with a lilting tone of sarcasm. Apparently it was uncool to hear at school the next day, “Hey, I saw you out walking with your parents.”
Today, Jen (my spouse), Kate (our second daughter), and I sat down to pack and label shipments of Invasion of the Saucer People decks for Kickstarter backers. (That’s a box full in the photo above.) Kate grinned and said brightly, “Hey, mandatory family fun time!”
*Sigh* I get no respect.
