Russian Professor Predicts End of U.S.

Maybe it’s a case of “turnabout is fair play”: A French political scientist predicted the breakup of the Soviet Union fifteen years before its demise, now, as quoted in the Wall Street Journal, a Russian professor is saying the same about the U.S. Or perhaps it’s just opportunism—kicking us when we’re down economically. However, given just how insanely short-sighted our uber-wealthy masters have proven to be over the centuries, and recent revelations of how much U.S. debt China now holds and how many of our ports are effectively owned by Dubai, I’d say it’s foolish to assume the good ol’ U. S. of A. is invulnerable to such a fate. (Plus, the breakup makes a pretty map.)

One thing I don’t understand is why Alaska would go to Russia instead of Canada. After all, Alaska is actually connected to Canada. This seems wishful thinking on the prof.’s part. (Unless Governor Palin and Vladimir Putin really have been waving at each other across the Bering Strait, perhaps exchanging signals in preparation for a surrender?)
