“Harris/Walz: It’s the Correct Play.”

I’m proud to be a member of this 1k+ group of designers encouraging you to vote Harris/Walz this election.

Look, I’ve been alive to see the Civil Rights bill be signed, grew up with school drills for nuclear war, missed the Vietnam draft by 1 year, and saw the Berlin Wall dismantled. I grew up with the assassinations of Kennedy, King, and Malcolm X.

I’ve known polio victims, lost one grandmother to tuberculosis and the other to cancer that today would have been treatable.

In grade school, I watched John Glenn launch into space. Was 13 years old when we landed on the moon. As a teenager I traded in my sliderule for a Radio Shack calculator, saw the first public Pong game, experienced the technological shift from AM to FM radio, and have watched the rise of the Internet.

I saw the nations of the world band together to close the hole in the earth’s ozone layer, by ceasing to use chlorofluorocarbon refrigerants. And I’ve seen the planet fall increasingly into deadly climate change.

I saw women finally get the right to apply for a credit card without a husband’s approval.

When I was born, global population was 2.8 billion. Today it’s 8.1 billion.

The point is this: With all that change, never have I seen the US as close to fascism as now. Never saw a President with the selfish audacity, criminal background, and blind devotion as Trump.

Thankfully, there’s hope of a way forward. This is it. Our chance to defeat racism, misoginy, homophobia, and bigotry — again. Maybe our last chance.

Vote like your life depends on it.

Here’s to the Harris/Walz ticket.

Oh, no RFK, for sure! I think he’s better than Trump, if only because he hasn’t denied election results and orchestrated an insurrection. But among many other drawbacks, he’s anti-vaccine.

I would probably go Green Party, or Communist if they manage to get on the ballot. Or write-in “none of the above”.

I have seen claims that Harris plans to put the screws on Israel to stop the carnage. I would be ecstatic, and would immediately return to the fold. But until it actually happens, I see it as unprovable propaganda.

I was raised devout Catholic, and became an atheist around 2000. The problem with the argument “humans lack the capacity to understand ‘The Divine Plan'” is that it renders all religions equal. If Jesus is divine but I am not smart enough to understand why he created Christianity knowing Christians would slaughter and enslave millions, and Quetzcoatl is divine and I am not smart enough to understand why he demanded human sacrifice, then I have no way to rationally pick Jesus over Quetzcoatl. Or Zeus, Marduk, Voodoo, etc…

I hear you. There are two things on which Democrats have conceded, in order to compete with Republicans: “Tough on crime,” which brutalizes minorities, especially Black men; and “Support Israel regardless,” which is causing genocide in Palestine.

I fervently wish Independents will someday win without those two agendas. But as a former Evangelical Christian in America, I can tell you for sure that it won’t happen until American Evangelical beliefs are dead and buried forever.

We were taught that, “Pray for the peace of Israel” means unflinching support of “God’s chosen people” in that land.

Thankfully, I escaped that mindless madness. And although myself now an athiest, I recognize that other Christian denominations act much more faithfully to Jesus’ teachings. But, not to put to fine a point on it, American Evangelical faith is a cancer on our nation.

In the meantime . . . dude, I don’t know. as an Independent choice right now, RFK Jr. is no better than Trump. Here’s to better choices in 2028.

I already voted for Harris/Walz, by mail. I haven’t voted for a Republican in over twenty years. But this is the last vote and the last dollar the Democrats get from me. Their unwavering support of the Palestinian genocide, including over 20 billion in military aid and defending Israel’s atrocities at the U.N. is a bridge too far.

I realize that Trump also supports the Palestinian genocide. But the argument “The other side also wants to directly murder tens of thousands of children and starve to death half a million more!” Is not a moral position to take.

Our country is morally bankrupt. After Trump is defeated, I am voting third party from here on out.
