People have been asking for an update to the best-selling D6xD6 RPG for several years now.

And the D6xD6 Dungeons RPG zine let me work out more down-to-earth language and a smoother approach to the rules. As well as discover another built-in “One Roll to Rule Them All!” aspect of the d6xd6 dice roll.

D6xD6 Dungeons was also a chance to see whether the d6xd6 game system could hold up to a long-term campaign. I had my doubts. But after a year-plus of weekly Saturday sessions, I knew for sure that the experience rules worked perfectly. We could have kept playing those same characters for years to come, but the Bookmark HP RPG was beginning to absorb my attention.

(On a related note, I figured there was no way BNHP could manage campaign-length play, but since D6xD6 had proved me wrong, an old friend and I tried it out as a year-long cyberpunk campaign. And, you guessed it, the BNHP system held up, too!)

Those things considered, I spent most of 2024 working on this second edition in spare moments between other business. Early this month my editor, Dale Donovan of DRAGON Magazine fame, handed it back with a few corrections, and after a bit more layout work, here it is!

Besides smoother, friendly rules, this zine edition also includes a fairly extensive walk-thru of how I put together an adventure, in this case a steampunk-themed “Polar Peril.” Also included are four settings—a slightly revised “L’Académie des Arcanes” and “Blood Type” from the original book, and “Invasion of the Saucer People” and “Supers.” This way it covers a range from fantasy to horror to sci-fi to superhero settings.

As a 48-page zine, the game is lean and easily referenced, with a hyperlinked table of contents in the PDF.

(That last being a result of my improving Affinity skill. I’d rank that as Unfamiliar, but what with a personal D6xD6 Focus rating of 10-ish jack-of-all-trades, it suffices.)

Now I’m just awaiting a print proof. And in the meantime fleshing out the d4ce rpg rules, and working out contract details for obtaining the Dark Conspiracy RPG IP! (More evidence of my 10-ish, multi-squirrel, personal Focus rating.)

Watch this space for further news. 🙂
