d4ce gets a YouTube demo

Although the sporadic nature of my YouTube channel might suggest otherwise, I love doing demo videos. If only they didn’t take so loooong to edit. It’s been hard to fit them into time needed for game design work and other writing. Also, my recording setup has been too discouragingly primitive to capture details of text or even sometimes dice.

Space and time. My two arch-nemeses.

Last week I finally got a recording setup that fits my corner desk, can be left in place for whenever schedule and whim allow, and records video itself more clearly. Next, by returning to picture-in-picture recording, I feel less finicky about rough cuts to trim long silences onscreen. And settling for ClipChamp instead of OpenShot Video Editor reduces editing time from days to just a few hours. (I love OpenShot, but it needs a more graphics-intensive PC than justifiable for writing. This here new laptop of mine is no slouch, but my video editing daughter’s is about three times the cost.)

With those changes, recording and editing this d4ce rpg demo went pretty quickly. The pleasant work of about a day. So I’m finally truly hopeful of doing these more often.

This video uses the GMA Sci-Fi deck as an oracle. Next one is slated to be a Julia Bailey matchup with the Cut Up Solo –The Virginian oracle.

Oh! And remember, the whole reason the d4ce rpg exists in the first place is those wonderful Black Oak Workshop dice! You owe it to yourself to visit their website, and ideally their convention booth. Here’s their show schedule. Tell them I sent you.

Cheers!
