Why is “front yard” two words, but “backyard” one? “Front seat” two words, but “backseat” one? 😛
Having spent most of my life (post factory decade) writing, editing, and teaching, I’m just grateful that such arbitrariness gives me iconoclastic stones to throw at pedantry. 😀
