Fanged Smileys – Postage Outside the US

Hey, gang.

For Fanged Smileys dice purchases, o compensate for extra postage outside the US, I’ve been giving buyer’s choice of PDFs on DriveThruRPG equal to the added cost.

So far that added cost has been roughly $12 to Canada and the UK, $15 to Eastern Europe, and about $18 to Australia. Add that to the US price of $21 for your total of dice plus shipping.

E.g., a set of dice shipped to Eastern Europe would be $36 total and include $15 of PDFs. Message me for a total to your location. (Or if you prefer, purchase a set at the US cost and I’ll invoice you for added postage to your locale.)

By the way, to keep things as inexpensive as possible, I’ve been rounding shipping down to the nearest dollar even in the US, absorbing the rest myself, generally between 50¢ to 85¢.

And a reminder, once this limited run of 250 sets is gone, it’s unlikely any more will be made. So if you’re thinking about getting a set, now’s the time.

Halloween Horror Card Games Sale

My horror-themed card games have joined the role-playing games in celebrating Halloween!

Through the end of the month, these card games are just 66¢ for the print-&- play PDFs, and 31¢ above my cost for print decks.

Black Oak Workshop Advent-ure Calendars 17-19

I love promoting other people’s work. It’s why I used to write small-press product reviews in Dragon® magazine, demoed those items at conventions (even when on staff at GDW and TSR), and still demo such things in my solo play YouTube videos.

And it’s why right now I’m promoting someone else’s Kickstarter project. You probably know I love Black Oak Workshop’s dice designs.* Their previous Advent-ure Calendars have given my family joy, and the Black Oak Workshop folks are good people.

Right now, their 2025 collection Kickstarter is very close to its goal. I’d appreciate your giving it a gander and pledging, to help them over the top. These Advent-ure Calendars make great gifts (even to yourself).

* The d4ce rpg is inspired by their d4 designs!

d4ce debut discount!

Way back in January, I posted about working on d4ce, new role-playing game rules created especially to celebrate Black Oak Workshop’s dice designs. Especially their “mini fig” four-siders, such as that stand of mushrooms in the upper left corner of the photo above.

The d4ce rpg is now available on DriveThruRPG, currently at a “debut discount” of half price. Get it here.

I’ve been a fan of Black Oak Workshop for ages now. Have long admired their inventive d6s, their “six-shooters,” for instance, depicting a revolver cylinder on each face, in which you count the number of bullets remaining.

But coming upon their campfire d4 while visiting their convention booth, I was taken aback. How was I supposed to read the thing, what with a campfire face up on all three visible sides? Then I turned it to the bottom, saw those numbers, and asked myself, “Why didn’t I think of this?!?”

The trouble is, of course, that d4s are treated as the redheaded stepchildren of role-playing games. The ones 1st-level D&D mages were stuck with. The ones people complain about stepping on.

Black Oak Workshop’s d4s clearly deserve more love than that, so I set about designing a new RPG in which “d4s rule and d20s drool!” The d4ce rpg has gone through a few months of testing and revision, went over wonderfully at Gary Con a couple of weeks ago, and has been serving as the default system for a weekly campaign based on the Fairyland Confidential solo card game.

I believe the d4ce rpg rules pretty much match the inventiveness of those amazing d4s. The rules are simple on the surface, hiding mathematical precision below. All in a trifold pamphlet whose back panel is your character sheet. Need a new character? Just print out a new pamphlet, and you’ll always have the rules right there at hand.

This is a system I’ll be running quite a bit at upcoming conventions, right along with the Bookmark HP, D6xD6, and D13 RPGs. I’d love to have you join me.
